Royal Never Give Up looked impressive in their first match-up of the Summer Split against Oh My God. They completely dominated the first game and controlled all of the objectives in a pretty much flawless victory. They gave OMG some slack in game two, but it was still an easy 2-0 sweep. Many people are wondering when this team will put Cryin in at mid lane, but RNG is sticking with Xiaohu at least for now. If they were to lose the first game here against Vici Gaming, then I could see them making a substitution for game two. Cryin’s old team, eStar, has certainly looked much worse without him in the lineup. New, the new top laner for RNG, played extremely well in his debut with the team and put up a good fight against both top laners for OMG, Aliez and Curse. Royal Never Give Up did not have a strong finish to the Spring Season, but it does look like they may have figured out some of their issues.

Vici Gaming also won their first match-up of the Summer Split in a 2-0 sweep over Bilibili Gaming. Vici did look good, but Bilibili also simply looked bad. In the first game, Bilibili decided it would be a bright idea to force pressure at dragon early on when Vici had better early game champions. This resulted in a quick 5-0 kill lead and a +4,000 gold advantage for Vici, and they never looked back from there. The 2nd game was closer but Bilibili then decided to just stop putting any pressure on Vici at all, which made the sweep nearly effortless. I won’t completely take away the credit from Vici Gaming, but I’m just saying that they didn’t have to do much to win. This Vici team did play well at the end of the Spring Season and almost made it into the playoffs, so they have been improving since 2019.

The last time these teams played was on March 20, 2020, when Vici swept 2-0. The rosters are pretty similar to that series, although New should be able to do a better job of containing Cube. Vici Gaming will be a popular upset pick, and this is a series that they could absolutely win, but I think at the current odds you have to back Royal Never Give Up as a bettor. RNG is the stronger team and the moneyline odds of -140 put them at an implied win probability of only 58.3%. My projections have Royal Never Give Up winning this match-up about 62.5% of the time, which means I see good value on Royal Never Give Up Moneyline (-140) [1 UNIT]. This series should be fairly close, but RNG definitely has the edge. My favorite DFS play is Betty (ADC), and I’d probably be cautious with Xiaohu (MID), since he could always be subbed for Cryin.

Bet: Royal Never Give Up Moneyline (-140) [1 UNIT]
Favorite DFS Play: Betty (ADC)

JD Gaming (0-0) vs. Suning Gaming (2-0) – 7:00AM ET

Moneyline Odds: JD Gaming (-450) | Suning Gaming (+320)

Map Handicap: JD Gaming -1.5 (-125) | Suning Gaming +1.5 (-105)

Projected Lineups

JDG: TOP – Zoom | JNG – Kanavi | MID – Yagao | ADC – LokeN | SUP – LvMao

SUN: TOP – Bin | JNG – SofM | MID – Angel | ADC – huanfeng| SUP – SwordArt

The last time we saw JD Gaming play was during the Mid-Season Cup in May, and while they won some games in that tournament, their overall performance was sloppy. Prior to that, they were the hottest team in the world, winning 8 series in a row heading into the Spring Finals, with the last 7 all being sweeps. The Mid-Season Cup had some odd rules, including standardized ping at 30-40 ms, so I’m not ready to judge JDG solely off of the results of this tournament. This team is as good as any team in the world when they are playing well, and I expect an elite level performance throughout the Summer Split.

Suning Gaming is currently tied for 1st place in the LPL 2020 Summer Split with a fast 2-0 start. This team has demonstrated excellent teamwork thus far, which helped them to sweep LNG Gaming and upset Team WE 2-1. I like the way this team has looked from a strategic perspective, and I have said since the beginning of the Summer Split that I think they are a playoff team. JD Gaming will be the toughest opponent that they have faced so far, so I think that they will struggle here. Suning should have no problem beating up on the bottom teams of the LPL because of their superior teamwork, but I’m not sure that they quite have the talent to compete amongst the top tier teams.

These teams last faced off on March 30, 2020, and JD Gaming won 2-1. The only difference in rosters is that Zoom is now in top lane instead of 705, which I think matters a lot. JD Gaming was still the much better team in that series, and they really should’ve finished Suning in 2 games. We just saw FunPlus Phoenix lose as a big favorite on the last slate, and Rogue Warriors almost stole game 1 from Top Esports as an underdog, but I don’t see JD Gaming having any issues sweeping in this spot. My favorite bet is to take JD Gaming -1.5 Map Handicap (-125) [1 UNIT]. This bet seems like a no brainer to me at close to even money odds. My favorite DFS play is LokeN (ADC) because he has a great ability to protect himself and farm even when things aren’t going well for his team. LokeN is almost a lock for a high fantasy point total in that sense. Fanduel strangely priced JD Gaming way down, so they are easy to stack on there. If you want to fade JD Gaming, you’re probably better off doing that on Draftkings. My favorite MonkeyKnifeFight prop bet is to take More – LokeN (ADC) – 12.5 Kills & Less – SwordArt (SUP) – 15.5 Assists.

Bet:  JD Gaming -1.5 Map Handicap (-125) [1 UNIT]
Favorite DFS Play: LokeN (ADC)
Favorite MKF Prop Bet: More - LokeN (ADC) - 12.5 Kills & Less - SwordArt (SUP) - 15.5 Assists
