ESL Road to Rio (EU) – Copenhagen Flames vs. Godsent – April 28, 2020 – 9:00am EST

ESL Road to Rio Group B play resumes on Tuesday with a matchup between the Copenhagen Flames (+200) and Godsent (-260). These are the only two teams who have played one match in the European side of the Road to Rio group play. Copenhagen won their first match against c0ntact, while Godsent was shut out by G2. Godsent really struggled to get things going against G2. Nobody on their team finished with a positive k/d ratio.

These teams come into this match without a ton of familiarity. The only time these two have played each other was about a month ago during the Europe Minor Closed Qualifier for the Road to Rio. Godsent took that matchup by a score of two maps to zero, but only had a five round advantage across the series. In that matchup, Nuke was the first pick for Copenhagen and each half was split 8;7 forcing OT. Godsent pulled through after just one OT set outscoring Copenhagen 4;2. Godsent won their map pick, Vertigo, by a score of 16;13. The score was 8;7 in Godsent’s favor at half time.

The last matchup between these two teams was extremely close and was decided by just a few rounds. With increased familiarity between the teams I expect to see similar results today. I’m thinking that Copenhagen may switch their pick from Nuke to Inferno, as they come into this match with a 4-map win streak on Inferno. Godsent has struggled on Inferno lately as well. Over the last three months they have a record of 2-5 on the map. I think Godsent will pick Vertigo again, unless the close matchup last time scares them off or Copenhagen bans it. I imagine their next pick would be overpass in which they hold a slight advantage over Copenhagen on. I fully expect this matchup to be a battle and to reach a third map. I also think the odds should be closer to a coin flip and would have to give the edge to Copenhagen as I see them winning this match more than 33% of the time.

Miner’s Money Picks: Copenhagen Flames (+200) & total maps o2.5 (-101)
